Good Friday is an important date in the Christian calendar, marking the beginning of the Easter period proper. To children today, often Easter is a time of chocolate, bunnies, eggs and chickens, but for thousands it is also a celebration of Christ, and his sacrifices. Berowra has had a strong Christian community from its early days, with several Churches established in the village, one of which is now the Catholic Church and School, Saint Bernards in Warrina Street.
Warrina Street was not the site first planned for the Catholic Church though. Eunice Allison remembers the eventful Good Friday when the first Berowra Catholic Church, in the process of being built, was blown over:
