Berowra Netball Club, Part 8 – Ormond

1965 Pennant 01

The correctional school Ormond, in Duffy Avenue Thornleigh, was another venue of play. A couple of our teams as well as umpires (the school could not provide any) travelled to Thornleigh station and walked to the school each Saturday while other teams still played at Brush Farm.

The grass courts were outside the perimeter of the buildings but there were always a couple of house parents to supervise the girls.

Thanks to Jenny Bentley (Olson) for access to records, photos, memorabilia and display items from Berowra Netball Club. Thank you also to the members of the first two Berowra Netball teams for their memories drawn from their club’s 50th anniversary (2010) display items and quoted above.
